ABOUT THE RFYO
The Roaring Fork Youth Orchestra provides student musicians in the Roaring Fork Valley region the opportunity to play in a string or full orchestra from kindergarten through high school. The RFYO holds rehearsals in Aspen, Carbondale, and Glenwood Springs. Need-based tuition and private lesson scholarships are available. The RFYO is a program of the local nonprofit, Roaring Fork Music Society.
RFYO Teaching Artists & the Side-by-side Model
Professional musicians with extensive and diverse teaching and performing backgrounds sit with students during rehearsals and concerts to provide support for students in playing their individual parts and learning how to play in an orchestra. This model offers intensive individual and group instruction during rehearsals. To read more about the music director and RFYO Teaching Artists, click here.
High School Credit
Students of Aspen High School have the option to earn high school credit through their participation in the Roaring Fork Youth Orchestra. Students interested in this opportunity should contact their school counselor to enroll and then notify Sarah Graf at the start of the school year. The credit is based on full participation in the Roaring Fork Youth Orchestra as well as the completion of outside projects throughout the school year.
